FAQ

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are an exciting new product and technique for thicker, fuller, longer, and natural looking eyelashes. They are great for day to day wear or a special occasion. Through professional application, an individual synthetic poly fiber or mink eyelash is directly attached to the natural lash with a specially formulated bonding agent that is very light weight giving you the look, feel, and wear of your own lashes. They come in various lengths, curl patterns and thickness to meet your needs.

How long do extensions last?

Lavish Lashes are semi-permanent, lasting 4-6 weeks depending on the life cycle of your own natural lashes and other factors. The average lash cycle is about 90 days. Everyone’s life cycle differs! Factors such as your eyelash characteristics, lifestyle, atmosphere, and general care for your lashes will determine how long your lashes will last. This will also vary month to month. We recommend a fill every 2-3 weeks to keep them full and beautiful.

How do I care for the lash extensions?

Wait at least 24 hours before getting your lashes wet. This includes showering, splashing water on your face, visits to the sauna/steam room, swimming, crying, and sweating.

Avoid using oil-based products! It can cause the extension to separate more quickly.

Keep your hands off your lashes to avoid oil and dirt from getting on them as well as causing any permanent damage to your natural lashes from picking or pulling.

Cleanse your eyes/eyelid with a gentle cleanser, sponge applicator or a micro swab to remove any debris and oil from around the eyes. Avoid using cotton when cleansing your lash line. When your lashes get wet, always pat them dry, and avoid rubbing with your towel. You can also use your hair dryer on the cool setting briefly.

If at all possible avoid sleeping on your face at night to prevent wrinkling and damage to your lashes

Can I use mascara or an eyelash curler with eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions add a little extra weight to your natural eyelash, so any additional weight or stress from perming, curling, tinting or mascara should be avoided.

Can I swim, shower, or enjoy a sauna/steam room while wearing eyelash extensions?

Occasional short visits to the sauna or steam room are fine. However, daily or extensive exposure to steam or intense heat and moisture may cause the bonding agent to loosen.

Can the extensions be removed?

Yes, you will need to set up an appointment to have them professionally removed to avoid any damage to your natural lashes.

Allergic Reaction:

Eyelash extensions can cause red/itchy/puffy eyes when first applied especially if you suffer from seasonal allergies, but typically goes away within 24 hours.

You can take an antihistamine medication, use eye drops such as Zatidor, or apply a cool compress to lessen the symptoms.

Allergic reactions are rare, however if you do have one and none of the above mentioned help after 24-48 hours, you should come in to have them removed.

Please note:

Lavish Lashes extensions are very natural. Meaning the extension itself is thin and lightweight. Especially the volume lashes.  This is to keep the integrity of your natural lashes.  You are adding additional weight with the extension and adhesive, so you want a lighter lash extension so there is no damage to your lashes. I can only create what your natural lashes will allow me to. Keeping the integrity of your natural lashes is my first priority and concern.
